Ambiguity in Israel’s Election Results; Has the Investigation Been Overshadowed by Politics?

According to Channel 14 Israel, while investigations into allegations of foreign interference and illegal funding in the 26th Knesset elections are ongoing, the final results have been submitted to Israeli President Isaac Herzog. Judge Noam Sohlberg, Chairman of the Central Elections Committee, had requested the Shin Bet to investigate these suspicions; however, despite the investigation remaining incomplete and limitations on investigative tools, the Elections Committee approved the results. Reports indicate that Shin Bet chief David Zini complained about restrictions imposed by Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara on using broader security investigative tools in this case. Nevertheless, the political process of forming a government and the swearing-in of parliament members are proceeding without pause, and any change to the results would be subject to complex legal processes following final certification.
