BBCSO and Stasevska perform Caroline Shaw and Barber at the Barbican
According to the Guardian, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, led by Dalia Stasevska, performed the London premiere of Caroline Shaw's 'The Listeners' at the Barbican. The 35-minute work, inspired by the Voyager Golden Record, incorporates poetry by Whitman, Tennyson, and Yesenia Montilla. Guardian critic Erica Jeal described the piece as thought-provoking yet underdeveloped. The concert also featured a performance of Samuel Barber's Violin Concerto by soloist Randall Goosby and Borys Lyatoshynsky's tone poem 'Grazhyna'.
