Israeli military launches search after breach found in Zikim kibbutz fence

Israeli military forces launched a search operation on Saturday morning after a breach was discovered in the perimeter fence of Kibbutz Zikim, located near the Gaza border. According to Ynet, the kibbutz security officer reported the damage, prompting the deployment of troops to inspect the area. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that no suspects have been located and it remains unclear when the breach occurred. The military confirmed that troops are continuing to search the area to rule out any security incidents. Surveillance footage and other monitoring systems are currently being reviewed. The IDF stated that there have been no confirmed crossings from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory. The military has not provided a definitive assessment regarding how or by whom the breach was caused. This incident occurs amid ongoing efforts to advance arrangements concerning Gaza. A 'peace delegation' recently published a roadmap for implementing an agreement with Hamas, which aims to disarm the group. Earlier this week, the IDF issued new operational guidelines for forces in Gaza. Under these directives, strikes are permitted only to neutralise immediate threats, and targeted killings require authorisation from the Chief of Staff and political leadership.
