UAE sends school supplies for thousands of Gaza children in latest humanitarian drive

The UAE has dispatched over 60 tonnes of school supplies, including bags, notebooks, pens, and other stationery, to support more than 25,000 students in the Gaza Strip. The shipment was loaded at Sharjah International Airport and transported to the Egyptian city of Al Arish for onward delivery to Gaza. This initiative is part of the UAE's 'Through Education We Rise' campaign, conducted under the broader 'Operation Gallant Knight 3'. Mohammed Al Shareef, a spokesman for the operation, stated that the supplies aim to support the education sector as the new academic year approaches. Hmoud Al Afari, director of UAE relief operations, noted that the campaign seeks to help students continue their studies despite ongoing humanitarian challenges. Since the launch of Operation Gallant Knight 3 in November 2023, the UAE has provided over Dh14.2 billion ($3.89 billion) in aid to Gaza, including the establishment of field hospitals, medical centres, and prosthetic programmes for war amputees.
