Israeli medical team brings aid to Panama City

A senior medical delegation from Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov Hospital) has traveled to Panama City to provide medical care to residents of the El Chorrillo neighborhood. The team, operating in cooperation with the Israeli Embassy in Panama, the Panamanian Ministry of Health, and the Office of the First Lady, has been treating approximately 200 patients daily and donating medical equipment and eyeglasses. Panama’s Foreign Minister, Javier Martínez-Acha, praised the initiative as a form of people-centered diplomacy that improves the lives of Panamanians. Alongside the medical team, a group of volunteers from 'Heroes for Life'—young Israelis traveling after their military service—has been working in local schools to teach subjects and renovate facilities. Israeli Ambassador to Panama, Mattanya Cohen, described the mission as more than just medical aid, calling it an expression of friendship and solidarity between the two nations. A key component of the operation is the collaboration between Israeli specialists and local Panamanian doctors, aimed at exchanging clinical knowledge and best practices to create a lasting impact on the local healthcare system.
