MK Elazar Stern resigns from Knesset after 11 years with Yesh Atid

Knesset member Elazar Stern informed Yesh Atid chairman Yair Lapid on Friday of his intention to resign from parliament after 11 years of service. Lapid praised Stern's contributions to the party and his role in establishing the previous government, where Stern served as Minister of Intelligence. A retired IDF major general, Stern began his parliamentary career with Tzipi Livni's Hatnuah party in 2012 before joining Yesh Atid. Throughout his tenure, he served on several key parliamentary bodies, including the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee and the Finance Committee. In 2021, Stern withdrew his candidacy for chairman of the Jewish Agency following public controversy regarding comments he made about his previous tenure as head of the IDF Manpower Directorate. Political analysts suggest that Stern's resignation may be a precursor to joining a new political framework, with reports indicating a potential move to align with Gadi Eisenkot.
