According to Variety, the cast of Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune 3” is preparing audiences for major departures from Frank Herbert’s literary franchise in the upcoming film, which draws heavily from the 1969 novel “Dune Messiah.” Zendaya told The New York Times that while much of the film remains true to the source material, there are also departures. Franchise newcomer Robert Pattinson added that one would have to be “crazy” to pick fault with the film over these changes.
