Trump: I will annex the Strait of Hormuz to US territory; Iran is in chaos

US President Donald Trump, speaking to reporters at the White House, rejected the extension of the memorandum of understanding with Iran and announced his intention to soon declare the Strait of Hormuz as United States territory. Pointing to Iran's economic situation and 300% inflation, Trump claimed that Tehran is in a state of chaos. He also defended the naval blockade by the US military, asserting that the measure has successfully lowered oil prices.

Regarding a potential nuclear deal, Trump stated that Tehran wants a deal, but not the kind he deems necessary. He added: "They must not have nuclear weapons, and given what we have done in the past with B-2 bombers, it will take them a long time to build one."

In other remarks, the US President threatened Oman, stating that if the country stands in the way of US actions, it will face a severe military response. He also dismissed reports of food shortages on the aircraft carrier USS Lincoln as "fake news."

Regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip, Trump stated that Hamas has agreed to lay down its arms and advised the Israelis against launching an attack. He further claimed that secret communication channels exist with elements within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and that if fighting resumes in the Middle East, the US will lead the effort with Israeli support.
