CENTCOM Establishes ‘Iron Gate’ Task Force to Block Iranian Land-Based Arms Smuggling

According to Alhurra, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that Admiral Brad Cooper has ordered the formation of a new task force named 'Iron Gate.' Based in Tampa, Florida, this unit is tasked with coordinating with other U.S. government agencies to prevent Iran from transferring advanced weapon systems, dual-use technologies, and sanctioned materials via land borders and the Caspian Sea. Tom Warrick, a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, told Alhurra that this move aims to track companies and nations violating international laws. This decision follows CENTCOM's reports on the success of a maritime blockade in curbing Iran's oil revenues. The new task force is described as an additional tool to limit Iran's ability to threaten international trade and the infrastructure of Gulf states.
