US prepares to expand the blockade on Iran with new task force

According to Reuters and Ynet, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) is establishing a new task force dubbed 'Iron Gate' to strengthen efforts to restrict the movement of advanced weapons systems and sanctioned goods across Iran's land borders and the Caspian Sea. Adm. Brad Cooper, commander of CENTCOM, stated that the task force will coordinate with other U.S. government agencies to track illicit revenue streams and dual-use goods. This development comes alongside reports of potential progress in indirect talks between Washington and Tehran mediated by Qatar. However, Tehran continues to insist on preconditions, including the lifting of the maritime blockade and sanctions. Meanwhile, tensions in the Strait of Hormuz persist with reports of oil tankers being targeted, and Donald Trump has confirmed limited military strikes inside Iran.
