Tensions at High-Level Meeting Over Election Fraud Allegations in Israel

According to Walla, a joint meeting between Central Elections Committee Chairman Noam Sohlberg, Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, and Shin Bet Chief David Zini regarding allegations of bribery and foreign interference in the Ra'am party's election results was marked by intense tension and disagreements. Sources described the meeting as having "explosive battles." The Central Elections Committee stated that even if the allegations are proven, they would not affect the distribution of mandates. According to the committee's calculations, transferring a mandate from Ra'am to Shas would require invalidating approximately 7,000 votes, which would necessitate the disqualification of 250 ballot boxes—a scenario deemed practically unlikely. Meanwhile, coalition officials, including Ofir Katz and MK Yaakov Bardugo, criticized the election process, claiming it was "contaminated" and calling for a swifter investigation.
