Diplomatic tensions rise as Turkey accuses Netanyahu of ‘cheap politics’

The statement reaffirmed Turkey's stance in defending the oppressed. This followed a sharp rebuke from the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, which labeled President Recep Tayyip Erdogan an 'antisemitic dictator' and dismissed his efforts to intimidate Israeli leaders as 'pathetic.' The Turkish legal request stems from proceedings in an Istanbul court regarding Israel's interception of the 'Global Sumud' flotilla in international waters. As of Friday, there was no indication that Interpol had accepted the request. Relations between Ankara and Jerusalem, which had been moving toward normalization prior to October 7, 2023, have deteriorated significantly since the start of the conflict.
