Trump threatens to bomb Oman over Iran deal regarding Strait of Hormuz

According to the Associated Press, two regional officials stated that U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to bomb Oman due to his dissatisfaction with the country's deal with Iran to manage shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. The Trump administration reportedly opposes parts of the deal, specifically the joint management of the exit route from the passage, which is critical to global oil and gas supplies. This threat comes as the 60-day negotiating period for a peace deal between the U.S. and Iran expired without an extension. Trump also posted a map on social media depicting the strait as U.S. territory. Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, responded by calling the claim a delusion and warning that such delusions would be corrected. Meanwhile, maritime security agencies reported a projectile strike on a ship near the strait and ballistic missile attacks targeting the UAE. Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, Iran's parliamentary speaker, reiterated that the Strait of Hormuz will not reopen until the United States fulfills its commitments, including lifting sanctions and releasing frozen assets.
