Syrian and Yemeni sources deny Syrian military presence in Yemen

High-ranking Yemeni and Syrian sources told Alhurra on Saturday that there is no presence of Syrian soldiers in Yemen, following reports that hundreds of Syrian troops had been deployed to the border areas between Yemen and Saudi Arabia. A senior military source in the Yemeni Ministry of Defense told Alhurra that the information is baseless. Additionally, two security sources from the Syrian Ministries of Defense and Interior confirmed to Alhurra that there have been no real movements within their ranks toward Yemen or Saudi Arabia, suggesting that the Yemeni statements regarding the deployment were intended to pressure Iran. According to the sources, coordination with Saudi Arabia has so far been limited to security and diplomatic training courses, and no military agreement has been reached due to pending political issues.
