Téa Leoni and Tim Daly: We do not need an intimacy coordinator for ‘Newlyweds’

Téa Leoni and Tim Daly, who star in the upcoming NBC multi-camera comedy 'Newlyweds', have stated they do not require an intimacy coordinator for their romantic scenes. The actors, who married a few months ago, play the lead roles of Jeanie and James. According to Deadline, casting the real-life couple as a married pair was a form of 'method casting' by NBC. The project reunites the pair, who previously played husband and wife in the 2014 CBS drama 'Madam Secretary'. Speaking at an NBCUniversal event on Monday ahead of the show's autumn premiere, Leoni noted that their collaboration was intentional. She said they had been looking for an opportunity to work together again, noting that while they enjoyed 'Madam Secretary', they wanted to move into a lighter genre. Leoni added that they enjoyed the established dynamic and wanted to spend their working days together. Jamie Lee Curtis also discussed her involvement in the comedy and the mature title she has chosen for her role. According to Deadline, Curtis previously stated she had 'begged' her agent to secure her a role in a sitcom. 'Newlyweds' is scheduled to debut on NBC this autumn.
