Israeli marathon team wins gold at European Championships

The Israeli men's marathon team won the gold medal at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, England, on Sunday. The Israeli runners finished with a combined time of 6:28:37, beating the second-place German team by 34 seconds. This victory marks Israel's third team gold in the event, following previous wins in 2022 and 2025. Gashau Ayale led the Israeli effort, securing an individual bronze medal with a time of 2:09:21. Teammates Tadesse Getahon and Haimro Alame finished in fifth and eighth places, respectively. Following the race, Ayale stated that he dedicated the medal to the people of Israel, noting that he had urged his teammates during the final stretch to give their maximum effort to secure the win.
