Joshua Harel, high jump prodigy, to compete for Israel

Joshua Jayden Harel, an 18-year-old athlete recognized as a rising talent in the high jump, has announced he will compete for Israel. Born in Australia and raised in the United States, Harel chose to represent Israel due to deep personal and familial connections. Gersh Grigory Gershkovich, a scout for Maccabi Tel Aviv, described Harel as a complete athletic talent, highlighting his proficiency in high jump, javelin, and the decathlon. Harel, who finished eighth at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon, is currently mentored by Dwight Stones, a legendary former high jumper and three-time world record holder. The young athlete, who is set to attend the University of Southern California, aims to reach the NCAA Championship finals and challenge Israeli national records. Despite the complexities of his international background, Harel remains open about his Jewish and Israeli identity, stating his primary motivation is to bring success to Israel on the global stage.
