Toronto Film Festival adds 11 new titles including McDonagh, Herzog and Moretti

The Toronto International Film Festival has finalised the programme for its 51st edition by adding 11 new films, bringing the total number of titles to 293. According to Deadline, the new additions include works by Martin McDonagh, Werner Herzog and Nanni Moretti. Martin McDonagh’s Nine Wild Horses, a Searchlight Pictures production, will screen in Toronto following its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival. The film stars John Malkovich, Sam Rockwell, Parker Posey, Steve Buscemi and Tom Waits. Set in 1973, the story follows two CIA agents on a mission from Santiago, Chile, to Easter Island that tests the trust between them. Werner Herzog’s Bucking Fastard, starring Rooney Mara and Kate Mara, will feature in the Canadian premiere section. The sisters play Jean and Joan Holbrook, who are so close they speak in unison, share the same romantic interests, have identical dreams and make the same verbal slips. The film is based on a true story. Nanni Moretti’s A Brighter Tomorrow, which also holds its world premiere in Venice, has been added to the Toronto lineup. Deadline reports that due to their 'Canadian premiere' status, both Bucking Fastard and Nine Wild Horses may also screen at the Telluride Film Festival, the programme for which will be announced shortly before the event begins.
