Gramado Film Festival launches new talent development programme

Brazil's Gramado Film Festival has announced the launch of its first 'Young Filmmakers Residency'. The intensive programme will run from 17 to 19 August, coinciding with the Gramado Film Market, and will feature 60 young filmmakers. Participants, aged between 18 and 35, were selected from a pool of over 200 applicants. Candidates were required to have experience on at least one film project, with most working in fields including production, directing, acting, screenwriting, cinematography, or sound recording. The host state of Rio Grande do Sul accounts for the largest share of participants, with 28 representatives. The remaining filmmakers were selected from the states of Bahia, Goias, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Santa Catarina, Sergipe, and Pernambuco, as well as the Federal District. Brazilian cinema figures Marcio Fraccaroli, Veronica Stumpf, and Silvio Guindane will serve as the keynote speakers for the programme's masterclasses. The Young Filmmakers Residency has been introduced as a new component of the Gramado Film Market.
