Jay Shapiro: Israel must not outsource its security to international forces

Jay Shapiro, host of 'The Israeli Perspective' podcast, emphasized in his latest program that Israel must retain its independent defensive capabilities and should not rely on international forces or agreements to neutralize Hamas in Gaza or Hezbollah in Lebanon. Expressing skepticism toward US-backed border plans, Shapiro questioned the efficacy of international mechanisms in disarming groups committed to Israel's destruction. He argued that while diplomatic efforts have secured hostage releases, the challenge of permanently disarming Hamas and Hezbollah is fundamentally different, and foreign troops are unlikely to be prepared for military confrontation with these groups. 'It is Israeli troops that will protect Israel, not an international force,' Shapiro stated. He further argued that Israel must adopt an offensive, proactive stance rather than a defensive one to prevent enemies from rebuilding their military capabilities. In the second part of the program, Shapiro warned of what he described as the growing influence of the Muslim Brotherhood within European institutions, specifically citing Britain and Switzerland. He claimed that the movement seeks to exert influence through political and institutional channels rather than direct violence, and urged European governments to be more vigilant and to cooperate with Israel on intelligence sharing regarding these threats.
