Massive Drone Attack on Moscow and 10 Civilians Killed in Kharkiv

Ukrainian forces launched one of their largest drone attacks on Russia since the invasion began, deploying nearly 800 drones, according to officials. This operation occurred just two days after a similar salvo. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that air defenses intercepted 791 Ukrainian drones over various regions, including Crimea and the Black and Azov seas. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that over 600 drones were directed toward the Moscow region, with 180 shot down. The attacks resulted in three injuries in the Moscow region and three in the Ryazan region, while a warehouse belonging to the retailer Wildberries caught fire. Simultaneously, a Russian missile strike on the village of Pechenihy in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region killed at least 10 people and wounded 17 others. Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, reported that the strike demolished homes, a cafe, a post office, and several vehicles. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the strike as a "brutal attack" and vowed a response. Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham affirmed that the U.K. will continue to support Ukraine's right to self-defense. These comments follow warnings from Moscow regarding reports of Ukraine using British-made drones to strike Russian territory. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Moscow reserves the right to view such involvement as "participation in the war, with all the ensuing consequences."
