Doug Spradley appointed as head coach of Hapoel Be’er Sheva basketball team

Hapoel Be'er Sheva basketball club announced on Thursday that 59-year-old American coach Doug Spradley has been appointed as the team's new head coach. This appointment comes as the club has successfully secured its place in the Israeli Premier League following a period of uncertainty. Spradley brings over two decades of coaching experience in Europe, primarily in Germany and the Netherlands, having previously managed teams such as Paderborn, Würzburg, and Tigers Tübingen. During his four-season tenure with the Dutch club ZZ Leiden, he secured two Dutch league titles, a Dutch Cup, and a BNXT League championship. Prior to this announcement, Hapoel Be'er Sheva had already strengthened its roster by signing Noam Avivi and Golan Gut, accelerating preparations for the 2026/27 season.
