US carries out another round of ‘minor’ strikes on Iran, Trump says
US President Donald Trump said the US military on Friday carried out a new round of limited strikes on Iran, targeting an air defence system, describing the action as minor. Iranian state media reported the sound of two explosions in the Suza area of Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz. In an exchange with reporters, Trump said they built an anti-aircraft device and US forces knocked it out in minutes. The strikes come in the wake of the Republican party setback in the US midterm elections, while diplomatic efforts mediated by Qatar to end the conflict have accelerated.
