Kushner and Netanyahu meet in Jerusalem to advance Gaza peace plan

Jared Kushner, a top aide to Donald Trump, met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem on Monday. The meeting, which lasted several hours, was also attended by Nickolay Mladenov and Tony Blair, senior envoys of the 'Board of Peace.' The talks took place amid ongoing international efforts to advance a 15-point roadmap backed by the US for the disarmament of Hamas and stability in Gaza. An Israeli official stated that the discussions focused on moving forward with implementable elements of the plan. Hamas, which has previously agreed to the plan, stated that disarmament would only begin if Netanyahu publicly commits to the terms of the roadmap. Meanwhile, Netanyahu has maintained that Israel will not withdraw from the Gaza Strip until the group is fully disarmed. Donald Trump, in an interview with Fox News, claimed that progress has been made regarding Hamas disarmament. Concurrently, several regional powers, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, issued a statement condemning Israel's rejection of the roadmap, labeling it an obstacle to peace.
