Chinese humanoid robots break human world records in sprint and high jump

During the opening of the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, organizers reported that Chinese-made humanoid robots surpassed human world records in track and field events. The games, held at the National Speed Skating Oval, feature over 2,000 robots from 16 countries. According to the event organizers, a humanoid robot completed the 100-meter sprint in 9.39 seconds, beating the human record of 9.58 seconds set by Usain Bolt. In the high jump, a robot reached 2.88 meters, surpassing the human record of 2.45 meters held by Javier Sotomayor. These developments occur amid a heating technology race between China and the United States. The U.S. government has recently imposed restrictions on the import of foreign-made humanoid robots and placed certain Chinese firms under scrutiny due to alleged military ties. Despite these feats, experts note that humanoid robots are currently primarily used for demonstrations, research, and performances, and that mass real-world deployment remains a long-term goal.
