New Scandal at Assuta Medical Center: Woman Impregnated with Wrong Donor Sperm

The Israeli Health Ministry announced it is investigating a new report from Assuta Medical Center in north Tel Aviv, indicating that a woman was impregnated with the wrong donor's sperm. The single mother, who had been undergoing fertility treatment at the center for three years, performed a DNA test abroad after noticing that her two sons did not resemble each other. The results confirmed that the children had different biological fathers. The woman's lawyers informed the Health Ministry that she was devastated to discover her child was conceived using the sperm of an unidentified man, without any knowledge of his genetic, health, or religious background. Assuta Medical Center stated it has launched an in-depth investigation, noting that it is too early to reach conclusions and that they are cooperating with the Health Ministry. This marks the third major scandal involving sperm or embryo mix-ups at the hospital network, which has faced significant regulatory scrutiny following similar errors in 2022 and 2023.
