Son of soldier wounded in Lebanon 32 years ago seriously hurt in Hezbollah drone attack

Two soldiers from the IDF's elite Yahalom combat engineering unit remain in serious condition in the intensive care unit at Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa following a Hezbollah explosive drone strike near the Ali Taher Ridge in Lebanon on Saturday. A 23-year-old officer wounded in the same incident has been moved to the orthopedic department, with his condition now listed as moderate. Among the seriously wounded is a 21-year-old soldier from Moshav Givat Hen, whose father, Haim Weiss, noted the grim coincidence of the family's history; Weiss himself was wounded in Lebanon in 1994 and evacuated to the same hospital. Haim Weiss stated that his son suffered significant blood loss but is receiving expert care, adding that rapid field treatment was critical to the survival of the force. In a separate incident in the village of Majdal Zoun, southern Lebanon, Capt. (res.) Harel Birenstock and Master Sgt. (res.) Tamir Vaknin were killed. Dolev Amir, another soldier wounded in that attack, remains in serious condition at the hospital, while two others have been transferred to facilities in central Israel following improvements in their condition.
