Qatari Proposal: Lifting the Blockade and Returning Nuclear Inspectors

According to Walla, citing the British newspaper The Guardian, Qatar is advancing a plan under which the United States would lift the naval blockade on Iran and release some of its frozen assets, valued at eight billion dollars. In return, Tehran would agree to allow IAEA inspectors to visit its nuclear facilities. According to the report, Iran would also commit to reopening the Strait of Hormuz. These negotiations follow a discussion between the Emir of Qatar and U.S. President Donald Trump. Iran has additionally demanded an end to the war in Lebanon, the withdrawal of U.S. forces from near its coasts, and the lifting of some economic sanctions. Meanwhile, Oman is also consulting on managing the shipping route in the Strait of Hormuz.
