Vampire thriller ‘Half’ to premiere at Toronto International Film Festival

French company Best Friend Forever has secured international sales rights for 'Half', an action-revenge thriller featuring a vampire. The Malayalam-language film is set to hold its world premiere in the Midnight Madness section of the Toronto International Film Festival. According to Deadline, the deal was finalised before the film's domestic release in India. This is considered an unusual trajectory for Indian genre cinema, as 'Half' has secured a European sales agent and a prestigious festival slot without first establishing a track record in its home market. 'Half' was produced by the Kerala-based Fragrant Nature Film Creations. The film is directed by Samjad, who co-wrote the screenplay with Praveen Viswanath. The pair previously collaborated on the 2024 Malayalam psychological mystery thriller 'Golam', which was released via Amazon Prime. The cast of 'Half' includes Ranjeet Sajeev, Aishwarya Raj, Abbas, Amala Paul, and Sreekanth Murali. The plot centres on a revenge narrative within the framework of a vampire action film. The deal comes as Deadline reports signs of recovery in the Indian box office, although a domestic release date for 'Half' has yet to be announced.
