Masoud Pezeshkian: If the US Returns to Commitments, Tehran Will Take Reciprocal Action

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated in recent remarks that if the United States returns to its commitments within the framework of understandings, Tehran is prepared to adopt a similar approach. Emphasizing that sustainable security is not achieved through confrontation, he added that such security relies on mutual trust, respect for national sovereignty, and non-interference in the internal affairs of other nations. Pezeshkian identified a mutual return to commitments as a possible basis for engagement with Washington. At the same time, the Iranian president adopted a firmer tone, claiming that Iran was the force that compelled the United States and Israel to cease fire and end what he termed "aggression" during a "40-day war." He further asserted that the violation of commitments by the United States had been met with a "proportionate" Iranian response, but clarified that if the American administration returns to the framework of understandings, Iran would act accordingly and take reciprocal steps.
