Study: Industrial zones and built-up areas suffer most heat in Gush Dan

According to a study reported by the Times of Israel, built-up and industrial areas within the Gush Dan metropolis, including Bnei Brak, Ramat Gan, Bat Yam, Holon, and Rehovot, are experiencing significant heat island effects. The research highlights that high-density construction and industrial activity are driving temperatures significantly higher than in surrounding open spaces. Findings indicate that during the summer, these urban areas can be 4°C warmer than open areas. This temperature gap is even more pronounced in winter, reaching up to 9°C. These results underscore the environmental challenges posed by rapid urbanization and the scarcity of green spaces in Israel's economic heartland.
