Scottish striker Robbie Ure joins Sevilla in £5.5m deal

Sevilla have announced the signing of Scottish striker Robbie Ure from Swedish club IK Sirius for an initial fee of £5.5 million. The total value of the transfer could rise to £7.6 million including performance-related add-ons. Ure completed his medical on Monday and signed a five-year deal, with the Spanish club identifying him as a key attacking option for the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium. The deal consists of an upfront payment of €6.5 million (£5.5 million) with a further €2.5 million (£2.1 million) in potential bonuses. According to Sevilla, Ure will become the third Scottish-born player to represent the club in an official match, following Ted McMinn in the 1980s and Duncan McVean Thomson in the 1915-16 season. The club also highlighted its Scottish heritage by referencing former manager Jock Wallace and their first president, Edward Farquharson Johnston. Ure, a former Scotland Under-19 international, has recorded 20 goals and three assists in 20 appearances across all competitions this season. Since joining IK Sirius in March 2025, he has registered 31 goals and seven assists in 50 games. His 15 league goals have helped IK Sirius to the top of the Allsvenskan table, where they currently hold a 12-point lead past the halfway mark of the season. Ure began his professional career at Rangers, scoring one goal in three first-team appearances, before moving to Belgian side Anderlecht in 2023, where he made only one senior appearance. His time in Sweden has proven to be a turning point in his career. Ure has yet to commit to a senior international side and remains eligible to represent Ukraine. He told BBC Scotland last month that he prefers to wait for a potential call-up to the Scotland national team.
