New survey: 54% of US Jews prefer Israeli opposition election victory

According to the 'Voice of the Jewish People' index published by the Jewish People Policy Institute (JPPI) in August 2026, 54% of Jewish respondents in the United States prefer the opposition to win Israel’s upcoming election. In contrast, only 14% of participants expressed support for the current governing coalition. Twenty-four percent of respondents stated it was not their place to comment, while 8% had no preference. The survey indicates that 78% of US Jews follow news regarding the Israeli election closely. Differences in perspective are notable based on political orientation; 78% of strong liberals and 74% of Harris voters favor an opposition victory. Conversely, 56% of strong conservatives and 43% of Trump voters support the current coalition. The institute noted that the survey sample reflects 'connected' Jews with ties to the Jewish community and Israel, and is not necessarily representative of all US Jews.
