UNODC warns of increasingly sophisticated methamphetamine trafficking across the Middle East

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has issued a warning regarding the increasing sophistication of methamphetamine trafficking methods across the Middle East. According to data released by the agency, Iranian authorities intercepted 3,663 kilogrammes of methamphetamine during the first quarter of 2026. The report indicates that these shipments were destined for Europe and the Persian Gulf region. These figures highlight the ongoing security challenges surrounding drug trafficking routes in the area.
