Senior Israeli Intelligence Official Warns of Potential Escalation with Iran

A senior official in the Israeli Military Intelligence Directorate (Aman) has warned that the situation regarding Iran could deteriorate within hours, days, weeks, or months. These remarks come as the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, which was signed two months ago, is set to expire today. According to Walla News, it remains unclear whether US President Donald Trump will approve an extension of the negotiation period or take unilateral action. In light of these uncertainties, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz and Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi have ordered preparations for all defensive and offensive scenarios. The Israeli intelligence wing has updated its warning models and refreshed its target bank. Simultaneously, the operations and planning divisions, along with the Israeli Air Force, have sharpened their situational assessments and coordination with the US military and regional partners. The memorandum of understanding signed in June called for an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, but the arrangement began to crumble quickly. On July 7, President Donald Trump stated that the agreement was "over," while Tehran has repeatedly accused Washington of violating its commitments. The 60-day period was intended to allow for a final settlement, including the future of Iran's nuclear program, but as the deadline passes, concerns over regional instability remain high.
