Walter Kogan: The Israeli police officer who went viral after finding missing mother and daughter

The weeklong search for Mali and Liel Yahalomi, a mother and daughter who went missing after leaving Israel, concluded in Buenos Aires, Argentina, thanks to the intervention of Walter Kogan, the Israel Police representative in Latin America. A video released by the Israel Police shows Kogan boarding a bus where the two were located, calmly greeting them in Hebrew: "Hi Mali, hi Liel. I’m Walter, the police representative in South America." The clip quickly went viral in Israel, sparking widespread social media attention. The mother and daughter had traveled from Israel to Prague, Vienna, and Frankfurt before reaching Argentina. Police stated that after confirming their safety and finding no evidence of criminal activity, they were allowed to continue their journey. Kogan, formerly an investigations and intelligence officer at the Arad police station, now serves as the Israel Police representative in Latin America. His role involves international coordination, intelligence sharing, and cooperation with regional law enforcement agencies to combat organized crime. Previously, Kogan has met with police officials in Bolivia, Argentina, and Paraguay to strengthen security cooperation and exchange law enforcement expertise.
