Evacuated Ukrainians from Russian-occupied Oleshky arrive in Belarus

According to the BBC, residents of the Russian-occupied city of Oleshky were evacuated during a local ceasefire brokered by US First Lady Melania Trump. David Arakhamia, a senior Ukrainian official, confirmed that planes carrying the residents landed in Gomel, Belarus, and they are expected to return to Ukrainian territory shortly. The humanitarian ceasefire, which has been in effect across the Kherson region since Tuesday, allowed for the demining of the evacuation route. Dmytro Lubinets, Ukraine's human rights ombudsman, traveled to Oleshky alongside his Russian counterpart, Yana Lantratova, to oversee the operation. While many were evacuated, some residents chose to remain in the city, with Russia pledging to provide humanitarian aid to those who stayed.
