Paramount sets release date for Possession remake starring Callum Turner and Margaret Qualley

Paramount has announced that the remake of the 1981 cult horror film Possession, directed by Parker Finn, will be released in cinemas on 11 June 2027. Callum Turner and Margaret Qualley are set to star in the lead roles. The film will share its release window with Universal Pictures' How to Train Your Dragon 2. Possession is scheduled to open one week after the 4 June release of the horror film Skeletons, directed by J.T. Mollner and starring Brie Larson, as well as Lionsgate's John Rambo. One week later, on 18 June, Columbia Pictures will release the highly anticipated animated feature Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. The original film was written and directed by Andrzej Żuławski and starred Isabelle Adjani and Sam Neill as a married couple navigating a supernatural breakdown in Cold War-era West Berlin. Possession is considered a significant work in art-house genre cinema, with Adjani winning the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival for her performance. Turner and Qualley will portray the central couple in the new version. The cast also includes Diego Calva, Madeline Brewer, Emory Cohen, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, and Paul Dano. Finn, who also directed Smile, is writing and directing the remake. He is producing alongside Jonathan Fass of Bad Feeling, Roy Lee and Andrew Childs of Vertigo, and Robert Pattinson. Mark Binstock serves as executive producer.
