US contractor gave Ethiopia secrets to help kill Tigray fighters

According to the BBC, 54-year-old Abraham Teklu Lemma, an Ethiopian-born American citizen and former contractor at the US State Department, Justice Department, and National Reconnaissance Office, has pleaded guilty to passing dozens of classified documents and satellite images to senior Ethiopian officials between 2021 and his arrest in August 2023. US prosecutors stated that he abused his position as an IT administrator to extract intelligence, hoping to help the Ethiopian military target and kill Tigray fighters during the 2020 civil war. Court papers showed that in December 2021, he urged an Ethiopian official to finish people once and for all and requested drones. He was arrested in Maryland in August 2023, and his sentencing is scheduled for 14 April 2027.
