Guardian: Denzel Bentley on trauma, street violence and boxing politics
According to Guardian Sport, middleweight boxer Denzel Bentley spoke candidly about his challenging life inside and outside the ring ahead of his fight against Shane Mosley Jr in London. Recently stripped of his WBO world title after the sanctioning body rejected his voluntary defense against Mosley, Bentley reflected on growing up in Battersea and losing numerous friends to knife and gun crime. He emphasized that boxing saved him from heading down a dangerous path. Having signed a new multi-fight deal with Zuffa Boxing and overcoming a lengthy period without a fight or steady pay, Bentley remains determined to push forward and pursue another world title.
