Euphoria’s final season makeup reflects Jules’ maturity

Variety reports that Euphoria makeup designer Doniella Davy has utilised red lips and black eyeliner in the third and final season to reflect the power, maturity and sexuality of the character Jules. The first two seasons of the series were defined by crystals, glitter and bold, high-impact makeup. With the show's return for its third season, this approach has shifted, moving away from the intense sparkle of previous episodes to align with the characters' new trajectories. The third season advances the story by five years. Consequently, Rue, played by Zendaya, Jules, played by Hunter Schafer, Cassie, played by Sydney Sweeney, and the other main characters are now more mature young adults. Davy sought to capture this narrative and age progression through her makeup design. For Jules, red lips and black eyeliner became central elements to convey increased confidence and maturity. This shift, alongside the departure from the previous seasons' glitzy style, forms part of the overall evolution of the show's visual language in its final season. Euphoria is written and produced by Sam Levinson. This report is based on a Variety feature regarding the makeup design for the third season.
