UK and US reportedly investigating alleged ties between China and anti-Israel protest group

The governments of the United Kingdom and the United States are investigating allegations of ties between China and the feminist group 'Code Pink'. According to a report by The Telegraph, the group is suspected of receiving £250,000 from a company connected to Neville Roy Singham, a British tech tycoon based in China who has previously been accused of funding Chinese state propaganda. Singham has consistently denied these allegations.

Code Pink has organized numerous protests in the UK and the US since the start of the war in Gaza in October 2023. The group's website states that it supports the right of Palestinians to resist occupation. The UK Home Office probe is part of a broader investigation into foreign influence and attempts to deepen societal tensions within the country.

In the United States, a congressional committee, alongside the Department of Justice, is investigating whether Singham used his funds to spread pro-China propaganda and advance Beijing's interests. Jason Smith, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, alleged that Singham's financial influence extends beyond US borders and supports anti-Israel causes in the United Kingdom.

A UK government spokesperson stated that the government's primary duty is to protect national security and democracy from state-backed threats. The US Department of Justice has also launched a federal grand jury investigation into Singham's alleged ties to China and pro-Palestinian protest groups.
