Reports of Maritime Route Changes in Strait of Hormuz and Hezbollah Efforts to Halt Lebanon Negotiations

According to the Lebanese network Al-Mayadeen, following talks between Iran and Oman, the southern route in the Strait of Hormuz will be cancelled. The report states that all oil tankers will be required to coordinate with the IRGC Navy. In a separate development, a source told the Lebanese newspaper Nidaa al-Watan that Hezbollah is seeking to sabotage direct negotiations between Israel and Lebanon. The source emphasized that Hezbollah has increased its military activity with a green light from Iran to derail the negotiations, which had previously made significant, unexpected progress under Washington's mediation. Meanwhile, a US State Department spokesperson told Al Jazeera that Hezbollah is the primary obstacle to Lebanon's economic recovery. The spokesperson stated that the group bears sole responsibility for the Israeli presence in the country and that buffer zones are the only practical path to peace, adding that the US expects the Lebanese Army to complete clearing operations in those areas.
