Matthieu Ybarra’s ‘Short Conversation’ to Premiere at Locarno

The hybrid documentary-fiction feature 'Short Conversation', directed by Matthieu Ybarra, will hold its world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival on 11 August. Hélène Bares, known for her role in 'Ovy and Me', stars as Charlie, a woman who enrols in a summer course at the last remaining finishing school for women in Switzerland. Charlie’s objective is to secure a position within the luxury industry. The film follows Charlie as she navigates the intricacies of etiquette, social graces, and conversation. Ybarra’s previous directorial credits include 'Above Our Hills' and 'Summer Camp'. 'Short Conversation' also features real-life women from various countries, examining themes of hidden gender roles, class hierarchies, and female empowerment.
