US to allow Iranian president to attend UN General Assembly

According to the Times of Israel, the US administration intends to allow the Iranian president to travel to New York to attend the UN General Assembly. This decision comes as Washington previously blocked a virtual address by Mahmoud Abbas, the leader of the Palestinian Authority, at the gathering. The United States and Israel also opposed a resolution that would have allowed Abbas to address the assembly virtually, although the measure passed with overwhelming support. Additionally, reports indicate that the Iranian delegation at the UN has been prohibited from purchasing luxury goods.
