Uncertainty over daily oil transit through Strait of Hormuz: US and industry estimates diverge

U.S. Central Command stated that it has assisted approximately 1,300 commercial vessels in transiting the Strait of Hormuz since the beginning of May, facilitating the movement of over 660 million barrels of crude oil. However, estimates regarding the precise daily volume remain inconsistent. While U.S. military officials report that more than 7 million barrels per day have crossed the strait over the past three weeks, other U.S. government sources have estimated figures as high as 10 million barrels. Conversely, private maritime intelligence firms, such as Windward, provide significantly lower estimates, assessing July's average crude oil exports through the strait at approximately 5 million barrels per day.
