Iran vows to keep Strait of Hormuz closed until US meets its conditions

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Sunday that Tehran will not reopen the Strait of Hormuz unless its demands are fulfilled and the United States meets its commitments. Speaking in a statement carried by the semi-official Fars News Agency, Ghalibaf said Iran had demonstrated during the past seven months that it could withstand attacks and pressure. Ghalibaf, who headed Iran's negotiating delegation to Islamabad in April, stated that Tehran intends to pursue diplomacy while continuing to confront adversaries, noting that conditions have been conveyed through mediators. Responding to a JPMorgan report on social media, he wrote that the endgame cannot be modeled and that Iran's hand is already on the lever. Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, had earlier stated that Tehran delivered seven conditions to Washington for resuming negotiations. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump told Fox News on Sunday that he is considering military action, economic pressure, or an agreement. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also stated that Tehran does not seek war but will not submit to force or intimidation, while remaining committed to its agreements despite distrust of adversaries.
