Israeli Military Considers ‘Redeployment’ Plan in Southern Lebanon

According to Al Jazeera, citing the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation, the Israeli military is considering a plan to reduce its military presence in southern Lebanon. This follows the reported completion of operations to clear and destroy tunnels in the 'Ali al-Tahir' area near Nabatieh. Security sources indicate that Israeli defense institutions are discussing a plan dubbed the 'Grey Line,' which would see the Israeli military withdraw to positions three to four kilometers from the border. The plan includes the construction of military outposts to serve as launch points for future operations. However, security sources emphasized that the plan is not yet finalized and has not received approval from the Israeli political echelon. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Thursday that military operations in the Ali al-Tahir heights have concluded, asserting that the area no longer poses a threat to Israel. His office claimed that Israeli forces have secured the area, neutralized a large number of militants, and seized weapons and computer equipment during the operation. The Ali al-Tahir heights, located on the eastern outskirts of the Nabatieh district, have been a critical point in the ongoing conflict between the Israeli military and Hezbollah due to their strategic position, which provides fire control over vast areas stretching from Nabatieh in the west to the Iqlim al-Tuffah heights in the east.
