Increased police patrols and traffic improvements in UAE for back-to-school season

Abu Dhabi Police announced that it will deploy additional patrols and traffic wardens on main routes to manage traffic flow and support school bus movement during peak hours. Officers will also monitor pedestrian crossings to ensure student safety. Furthermore, awareness programs covering security, cybercrime prevention, and drug risks have been established for students and parents. In Dubai, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a 30-day inspection campaign for school buses and is verifying driver permits. The RTA is collaborating with ride-hailing companies such as Uber and Careem to provide dedicated services and has increased public transport capacity on key routes. Students are eligible for a 50 per cent discount on Metro, tram, and bus services. Additionally, the RTA has completed road infrastructure improvements and expanded parking facilities around 10 schools, with work carried out during the summer break to minimize disruption and enhance safety.
