Thailand cuts visa-free stays for Israelis to 30 days

Under new regulations published in Thailand's Royal Gazette, Israeli citizens will be limited to a 30-day visa-free stay starting September 15, 2024, halving the current 60-day allowance. Travelers who enter the country before this date will retain their original granted period. Thai authorities noted that a 30-day extension remains possible, subject to approval by immigration officials. Additionally, visa-free entry via land borders is now restricted to twice per calendar year for Israelis. The Thai government stated the policy revision aims to balance tourism promotion with security, economic, and immigration control concerns. This change follows recent reports of increased scrutiny regarding Israeli tourists in locations such as Phuket and Koh Samui.
